A local non-profit does bimonthly movie nights of gay interest. Last night, they showed Ask Not, a film about the current state of affairs with Don't Ask Don't Tell. It was pretty good -- focused on the efforts of young people toward getting the statute repealed. The audience was large -- the largest we've seen since we started going to these events in April. I can't say I learned anything from it. I did a college paper on the military's ban on gays back in college in the late '90s and I'm pretty well caught up on my gay/lesbian documentaries. But, as the Partner in Crime pointed out, I'm probably more "aware" of some of these issues than many people living in this neck of the woods. So it's all good.
Some of the people featured in the documentary were at last night's screening and held a Q&A afterward. They're very well spoken. They've also got a website.
Overall, it was worth the price of admission. And the turnout was so large they're thinking of showing it again two months from now.
