Knee Deep in Mayberry II

We had more company this weekend -- old friends from the Partner in Crime's days as a tour guide. A lovely couple from Wisconsin. (Never been there. Looking forward to a trip there next summer.)
It turns out they're big fans of The Andy Griffith Show, which -- conveniently -- is based loosely on Mt. Airy. Not far from here.
The PIC and I have been there before, but, due to bad planning, didn't arrive until around 4 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon. Yeah, go figure. This time was much more eventful as we scheduled a good part of the day to be there.

The Lady Friend is a big quilter and fortunately for us there's a rather snappy sewing shop in Mt. Airy. Needless to say her "just popping in for a look" took about 45 minutes and cost her more than a hundred bucks. Yay! We're more than happy to help the local economies.
The Gentleman Friend is a big car buff (just like PIC) so for them, the treat was a ride in a 1964 Ford Galaxie which has been converted into a cop car. Included in the price (yay) is a tour around town where we saw Andy Griffith's childhood home (now converted into a B&B), The Andy Griffith Playhouse, several homes and buildings built from quarry granite, and other local landmarks.

Another fun tidbit: Donna Fargo grew up up nearby.
