Knee Deep in Glad That's Over

Once again, a balmy 74 degrees on the porch.
I just got home from my pre-employment health screening at my new job (which starts Monday) -- lots of body fluids collected into little plastic containers.
Ick.
I'm sure if they find ANYTHING of consequence in my drug screen it'll be an abundance of nicotine and sugar left over from overnight guests and birthday cake.
A bit of humor: I got the funniest look after telling one of my screeners that I'd walked to the site (0.35 miles thank you very much). That happens a lot down here -- no one walks anywhere. And they look at you like you've got two heads when confronted with the concept.
I'm toying with the idea of giving up (selling) my beater in a couple of months. It's 13 years old, it's served me well, but I don't need it. I'm going to wait though to see how things go with walking to work/becoming a one car-household and all that. You never know.

We stayed up late last night watching election coverage. Our original plan to watch NBC was thwarted by the local affiliate which kept cutting in with news that we, as new residents, really don't care about. Well, watching a certain candidate's G*dless Americans ad come back to bite her in the ass was moderately amusing.

I confess, I've not watched a lot of the political coverage of late. I think I'm suffering from PJSD (Post Journalistic Stress Disorder), I just get all anxious when watching the news. The thing that struck me last night about Obama is what a gentleman he seems to be: poised, polite, polished.

A refreshing change.
