Knee Deep in Paperwork

<=== Poor dead trees.
I started my new job today.
Well, I didn't really start today. Today I had orientation. That's where all the newly-hired employees from different disciplines (who'll never see each other again) sit in a large room all day and learn how to be nice to one another. Diversity=good.
As you probably know, with a new job comes lots of paperwork -- benefits (5 pages + 5 booklets to explain the benefits), confidentiality agreements (1 page, very legal), perks (12 handouts -- but, we love perks, so we're not complaining), and a map. This place where I'm working now is so huge, there's a map to show you where all the different buildings are. And, get this, the place is so huge the map is not done to scale because if it was done to scale it wouldn't fit on one 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper.
Eek.
Poor dead trees.
I'm still excited though. I have another 1/2 day of orientation to go and then I start my real work.
Things are looking good.
