Ah... Nature

After days and days of suffering [not so] silently, I finally went to the pharmacist to seek relief from this itching, sneezing, runny nose mess that I've been suffering of late.

It turns out, this part of the state is having one of its worst allergy seasons in years.

Figures.

To further compound my misery, he simply scoffed when I told him I'd been taking a generic Claritin to try and get me through. Yes, he actually scoffed at me. Well, maybe not at me, per se, but the notion that I'd bought into Claritin-fever.

After asking me exactly how much of my day I wanted to lose to drug-induced zombie-dom, he directed me toward another, more useful drug.

I just took it. We'll see how it works.

A Carpenter Bee.

Never heard of it? Neither had I until this move.
It turns out these little buggers tunnel into any untreated wood, lay their eggs / larvae / whatever, then die. The next generation of bees emerges, and the whole cycle repeats itself.
We've got dozens of them living inside the railing of our front porch. We thought they were bumble bees. Our wicked friendly neighbors tell us the bees are mostly harmless to humans. But given their "nesting" habits I'm glad we're renting.

The weather continues on its beautious streak. It hit 80 very comfortably today and it was beautifully sunny. (No, I wasn't enjoying it. I was suffering with the aforementioned runny nose, watery eyes, etc.) I have to say, I'm a little concerned about what's going to happen with the weather once summer really hits here.

Thank god for central air conditioning.
