Knee Deep in Thought...

"Everyone I loved seemed to go on forever wishing and wanting and waiting and waiting. They lived their lives waiting to win the great lottery, the Reader's Digest Sweepstakes. At the ends of their lives, they held on to two or three items of pride and dismissed every other ambition as wishful thinking, nothing more than a dream. I felt an increasing need to elevate myself by going amongst people I felt challenged by, even inferior to, who would prompt me to push myself into new realms. I did not want to wait on that million-to-one chance of being chosen, but wanted to be the pointing his finger and calling the names."
